Students incorporate experiential learning into their college experience through UB ELN's Project Portal. A great example of a project that students can get involved in is, "Building VR Neighborhoods and Moments for Dementia Patients." This project, in particular, would benefit greatly from having a few women undergrad STEM students get involved in the development, implementation, or research elements of this worthy endeavor. Cynthia Tysick is the Project Mentor.
Building VR Neighborhoods and Moments for Dementia Patients Virtual Reality offers dementia patients the opportunity to relive happy moments in familiar surroundings from the comfort of their chair.

It's very cool to see one of UB's faculty featured on the recently released SUNY Open Educational Resources (OER) handout to help encourage the adoption of OER. Jessica Sloan Kruger is a great asset to UB and SUNY and she is also this year's FACT2 teaching excellence recipient. In talking with her, it is clear that she cares deeply about making a difference in student's lives.
