One year after a fire killed one of his tenants— in a rental deemed illegal by inspectors— landlord Joseph Parlato has come out of it unscathed.

That is, he hasn't been fined a cent in Housing Court and he's been given 30 more days to correct violations.

A landlord who rents to University at Buffalo students has a long history of code violations and unpaid taxes.

Then, one of his homes caught fire. A student living there died days later from burns.
