Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart Founded in 1877 by the Sisters of St. Francis, Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is an all -girls,
college preparatory Catholic high school.

Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Academy is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), One Schoolhouse (formerly the Online School for Girls) and the Education Collaborative of Western New York (EdCo).

StoryCorps’ September 11th Initiative was launched in 2005 in partnership with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum to record at least one story to honor each of the lives lost during the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Beverly Eckert '69 contributed the story of her final phone call with her husband, Sean Rooney. After losing Sean, Beverly turned her life to advocacy. She lobbied tirelessly on behalf of 9/11 families, serving as Co-Chair of the group Voices of September 11. Beverly's life was lost in the tragic crash of Flight 3407 in Clarence, NY, on February 12, 2009.

To carry on Beverly and Sean's legacy, Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is honored to share their story.

We recently welcomed members of the Class of 2030 for three weeks of Service Camp! Under the guidance of religion teacher Maria Clare ’95, participants in Week #3 spent their time giving back to the Western New York community and putting Sacred Heart’s Franciscan values into action.

From sorting clothes at Our Lady of Victory Charities and Northtown Care Connection to participating in activities with residents at Elderwood Village, gardening and making a meal at Kevin Guest House, and engaging in activities with clients at Kaleidoscope, these future SHA students embraced every opportunity to serve others.

We can’t wait to see how these young women continue to grow in their commitment to service and carry these Franciscan values with them throughout their SHA journey. 💚

We recently welcomed members of the Class of 2030 for three weeks of Service Camp! Under the guidance of religion teacher Maria Clare ’95, participants in Week #2 spent their time giving back to the Western New York community and putting Sacred Heart’s Franciscan values into action.

From sorting clothes at Harvest House Baby Ministry to engaging in activities with residents at Elderwood Nursing Home, making beds at Sleep in Heavenly Peace and creating food packages at both Bread of Life and Resurrection Food Pantries, these future SHA students embraced every opportunity to serve others.

We can’t wait to see how these young women continue to grow in their commitment to service and carry these Franciscan values with them throughout their SHA journey. 💚
