These Emerson students should be incredibly proud of themselves!!!

This year, we had a pico de gallo salsa-making contest. Eight teams of two students had 30 minutes to make salsa with only fresh ingredients. Then Emerson's guests voted on their favorite salsa. Winners received a giant goody basket with gift cards, Emerson swag, sweet treats, and more! Congratulations to our winners, Team Two!

Tonight's event had our largest turnout on record since 2020! 149 guests, 15 community and career-building partners, and 13 staff members created an inviting and exciting atmosphere to celebrate countries from around the world.

What is unique about this event, and a wonderful quality of our school, is that most of our featured talent and activities come from within our school! Students made the food and desserts, ran Coffee and Games Club activities, designed beautiful Henna for our guests, and competed in our contests. Our talented teachers ran a variety of activities, including mandala artwork, sugar scrub making, patchwork pouches, organizing contests, serving food, and more.

Everybody came together to make this possible. It was truly a partnership of students, staff, community, and local organizations.

We are exited to bring back the organization Music is Art to Emerson!!! Join us on March 25, 2026 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Emerson High School for our Music is Art Festival.
For our parent events, we now offer metro bus passes and Ausperger parking ramp tickets

This year's activities include:
Instrument Zoo- Interested in trying a new instrument? Learn how at the Music is Art Instrument Zoo
Battle of the Bands Paint and Sip (Ollipop edition)- Listen to music, paint what you hear, sip on some soda
Live Music
Drumming Circle
Digital Music Workshop
Karaoke- our Music Club will host a karaoke night!
Bookmobile- The Erie Co. Library will have its famous Bookmobile on site to explore books for you to take home. No library card? No problem! Someone will be there to help you sign up!

We had an incredible time at Emerson celebrating Black History Month with a two-part event that included inspiring speakers who discussed life in Africa, coming to America, and the origins of soul food in America. Students then sampled delicious African and soul food, and participated in an African drumming circle.

Between the chefs (and students) who pulled off the event set up and food distribution, the team of people that were part of the committee to plan this event, and our community partners who presented and planned activities for our students, the whole event really came together nicely.

Great job!
