We're gearing up for the 2026-27 school year, and new teachers are getting oriented this week. It's a big crew! Our new staff members have a full week of meeting mentors, planning and preparing, touring our communities, and more. All teachers return for workshops next week, and the first day of the school year arrives Aug. 31!

Project Pencils is a Wright County organization that is dedicated to providing school supplies for students in need in Wright County schools. Families contact us with their needs and we reach out to our volunteers to "adopt" students' supply lists. Through the generosity of donors and volunteers who purchase supplies for individual needs, we are able to help hundreds of students each year.

There are many ways you can help:
• “adopt” a student;
• donate school supplies;
• donate funds;
• help with backpack distribution; and
• hold a backpack-filling event and donate those bags to Project Pencils!

We post information on our page about those who need assistance. For more information about how you can help, please visit www.projectpencils.com or email [email protected].

We will then post your child's supply list in our Facebook group (no names will be used) and purchase or ask volunteers to purchase the supplies. Backpack distribution dates are on Saturday, August 15 from 9 a.m. - 1p.m. and Tuesday, August 18 from 4-8 p.m.

Yesterday we had our end of the year assembly. We celebrated our May character trait Cooperation, and gave out our Parkside PRIDE awards. We also recognized our school patrol members, reading buddy mentors and gave out library awards. What an amazing year!
