A group of our College Prep scholars recently visited the University at Buffalo for a tour of the Honors College where they learned more about the admissions process, student life, and the opportunities available through UB's honors program.

A special thank you to our scholars, staff, and academic coaches for all of the hard work, dedication, and care you brought to this year. We’re grateful for each of you. College Prep supports Buffalo Prep scholars throughout high school as they prepare for college, careers, and whatever comes next.

This spring, a group of Buffalo Prep College Prep scholars spent six weeks working with Dr. Yilang Zhao, Assistant Professor of Educational Data Science at the University at Buffalo, to learn how data can be used to better understand issues in our community.

They recently shared their projects with staff, board members, families, and community partners, presenting their findings and reflecting on what they learned throughout the program.

We're proud of all they accomplished over the past six weeks and grateful to Dr. Zhao for creating this opportunity for our scholars.

Buffalo Prep was honored to receive the 400th donation through Brightstar’s After School Advantage Program, a community initiative focused on expanding student access to technology and STEAM learning. Through the program, Brightstar donated a new 3D printer and computers for our scholars to use.

To celebrate the partnership, we hosted a special event where we heard from Brightstar leadership, Buffalo Prep board president Jodyann Galvin, community representatives, and alumnus Hon. Gary Wilson ’94, Buffalo City Court Judge.

Our 8th grade scholars are already putting the technology to work in STEAM class, where they are studying the invention cycle, designing their own creations, and printing prototypes. This hands-on learning connects directly to careers in engineering, design, and manufacturing.

Thank you, Brightstar, for investing in our scholars and their future! 💙

We remember the lives taken from our community on this day four years ago. Their memories remain with us today and every day, and we will continue working toward a future grounded in justice, unity, and love.
