Did you know that many libraries have access to court cases? Especially if you use a college or university library, check their databases page for Westlaw or LexisNexis Academic. Both are available to students at Utica College Library: https://www.utica.edu/academic/library/databases.cfm

A user recently asked us if there was a way to search for a book by ISBN. This is the "International Standard Book Number," a unique number for every book that is published, and many library catalogs have a way to do this. For example, with the Onondaga County Public Library, or the Finger Lakes Library System, go to their Advanced catalog search page, and select ISBN from the dropdown menu: http://catalog.onlib.org/polaris/search/default.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.4&type=Advanced

A student asked us how you can search for articles that have cited another particular article. The librarian showed them a great tip: you can use Google Scholar at http://scholar.google.com. Just search for the article, then click the "cited by" link below it.

Yesterday, a student was looking for empirical research articles, but their database search was showing articles that didn't fit. Use the database search limiters to filter for "scholarly" articles only, and add the word "study" to your search terms. The Sage Colleges Libraries

For example, we directed a student at Dutchess Community College to their bookstore website at http://www.dccbookstore.com/SelectTermDept.aspx
