🌿 Life is Succulent Presents: Our 1st Buy Nothing Fair! 🌿

✨ Saturday & Sunday, August 23rd & 24th | 10 AM – 5 PM

We’re thrilled to host our very first Buy Nothing Fair—a weekend celebrating community generosity, sustainable living, and shared abundance!

This event is a simple and beautiful way to give what you don’t need and take what you do—keeping good items out of landfills and in the hands of neighbors who will love and use them.

Here’s How It Works:
1️⃣ Gather Your Donations
Collect clean, gently used items ready for a new home.
✨ Ideas: books, craft/art supplies, houseplants & planters, small décor, toys, puzzles, games, kitchen goods, and gently worn clothing.
🚫 No large furniture, broken items, or heavily worn goods.

2️⃣ Pack & Drop Off
Group donations in boxes or bags for easy storage.
📦 Drop-off deadline: Friday, Aug 22nd during shop hours.
Miss the deadline? No worries! Volunteers can accept new donations during the event.

3️⃣ Browse & Take Home Treasures
On Aug 23rd & 24th, our space transforms into a free, community-powered marketplace.
Take home anything that sparks joy or fills a need—absolutely free!
Unclaimed items will be donated to local charities (suggestions welcome!).

💡 No donation? No problem!
You don’t have to give in order to take. This event is built on community care, not transactions—sometimes we have more to share, and sometimes we simply need support. Come as you are and take what serves you.

🌟 Volunteers Needed!
Help us make this event magical:
Event Prep: Sort & set up donations
Day-of Support: Greet neighbors & display new arrivals
Pack Up & Donate: Box leftovers & deliver to local orgs

Send us a DM, email, or stop in to sign up—your support makes this possible!

Why Join the Buy Nothing Fair?
💚 Declutter your home
💚 Find treasures without spending a dime
💚 Connect with neighbors & support sustainability

Help us make our first Buy Nothing Fair a weekend of sharing, connection, and joy!

Did you know...? This fantastic museum of science in Miami is a reciprocal museum. If you have a Buffalo museum of science membership/ASTC passport you can gain entrance to this museum in Miami. We only paid for parking. My family and I had the wonderful opportunity to touch a stingray and to learn about them. There's so much to see and do at this museum!

June Bacon-Bercey is best known for her time as a television meteorologist during the 1970s - right here in Buffalo, NY on WGRZ! 🦬

She was the first woman and first African-American to be awarded the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for her broadcast forecasting. During her career, she also worked for the National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

She was a staunch advocate for STEM education for women and minorities, setting up the American Meteorological Society's Board on Women and Minorities and using winnings from the TV game show “The $128,000 Question” to establish the June Bacon-Bercey Scholarship in Atmospheric Sciences for Women through the American Geophysical Union.

Dr. Bacon-Bercey is among the number of people we are recognizing this Black History Month for their contributions to science here at the Museum.
