Great camouflage, huh? I almost didn't see the predator--it was the sapphire glint on the prey that caught my peripheral vision. I killed 3 mantids on THIS cutleaf coneflower plant and turned around to find FIVE MORE in the goldenrod. Then I walked around the garden looking for them specifically. NINE dispatched in less than 10min of looking. So, our garden cannot support mantids' voracious appetites.
