BEAM Buffalo BEAM is a cooperative educational enrichment program for inner city, minority, or female students Programs include field trips and career speakers.

BEAM Programs:

BEAM helps to teach students the value of planning, listening, and teamwork. The overall themes of diversity and innovative technology will complement each other helping to create a world-changing future. BEAM – Summer Programs

Pre-Collegiate Summer Program
This enrichment program is designed for academically qualified students interested in exploring the wonder and excitement of

science, math and technology in a hands-on learning environment. Research Honors Summer Program
The Buffalo-area Engineering Awareness for Minorities (BEAM) and the School of Engineering traditionally collaborate to provide 8-10 academically talented local high school students an introduction to engineering research.Through this familiarization, it is hoped that these students will be stimulated to pursue an engineering education and ultimately aspire to a career in engineering.

That’s a wrap on BEAM Summer Programs, and what an incredible summer it was! 🚀☀️

Over 60 students in grades 6–12 joined us across three hands-on STEM programs.

Middle School: Students took on exciting challenges, from engineering bridges to launching model rockets.

High School: Participants dove into practical engineering—designing water systems, learning land surveying, and harnessing solar energy.

Thank you to all our brilliant students, instructors, and partners who made this summer unforgettable.

This week, our Department of Public Works welcomed students from BEAM Buffalo participating in Mayor Sean M. Ryan’s Summer Youth Program! ☀️

Students got a firsthand look at the wide range of work DPW does every day — from maintaining City-owned buildings to managing major infrastructure projects that keep Buffalo running and improving.

We hope this experience gave them a better understanding of public service and inspired some future careers with the City of Buffalo.

Thank you to Asha and the BEAM team for all you do to support Buffalo’s young people!
