ESP had a great time tabling this weekend! We were at Harvest House ‘s Harvest Fest and at the Northland Beltline Taxpayers Association’s Summer Breeze Block Party Northland Workforce Training Center — where we were visited by Mayor Sean M. Ryan

It sure is not easy to convince the Department of Transportation to stop focusing on cars. But that’s our mission— HEALTH OVER HIGHWAYS!

And that sentiment is clearly stated in NYS Climate Laws. Residents of disadvantaged neighborhoods deserve clean air and better quality of life.

ESP wants the PRIMARY PROJECT OBJECTIVES to be—
•prioritizing community health;
•combining the 198 & 33 projects;
•fully restore Humboldt Parkway.

NYS climate law states that we reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled AND mandates that no less than 40% of our climate action benefits will go towards NY’s disadvantaged communities.

Emere is a plaintiff on the case that compelled the DOT to conduct an Environmental Impact Statement.
She grew up on Humboldt Parkway and her mother still lives there.

Our Governor and other elected officials are refusing to grasp that this is a life and death issue.

Restoring Humboldt Parkway would restore the health of the residents who currently live on a highway.

Restoring Humboldt Parkway would cost HALF as much as blasting an unfiltered tunnel.

WHAT is so hard to grasp here??

Our second COMMUNITY CONVERSATION went really well. Thanks to everyone who came out to share your opinion and listen to others. Thanks to St. Philip's Buffalo for the use of your lovely and welcoming space.

Some specific areas we want included in the Environmental Impact Statement are:

•Community Benefit Agreements
•Health Impacts
•Economic Development Impacts
•Including Historic Properties
•Future Transit & Inclusive Mobility
•Environmental Justice

We believe the East Side of Buffalo deserves the highway removal that has long been fought for by neighborhood groups— and the highway removal that numerous other cities in New York State are getting!

We are not against anyone— just concerned that the DOT is not giving our City what it deserves.
