School 45 presents... Annie! 🎭✨

Students in 3rd through 8th grade got to audition to be a part of this amazing musical, and Ms. White, Ms. Koenig, and Ms. Donovan did an incredible job bringing it all together! They started preparing back in March, so it has been four months of hard work. The kids had to memorize all of their lines, songs, and dances, and they absolutely crushed it! We also had a wonderful crew of students working behind the scenes handling the music, microphones, lights, and props. So incredibly proud of this entire cast and crew! 🌟👏

🚀 PS 45 Rocket Team Soars! Huge congrats to our rocketeers at the CNY Rocket Team Challenge in Syracuse! 🏆✨

🥇 7th & 8th Grade Team: Took 1st Place in the 9th–12th Grade Division, beating older competitors!

👏 5th & 6th Grade Team: Showed amazing teamwork, perseverance, and true PS 45 pride!

Two weeks ago today, our School 45 family learned of the profound loss of our beloved kindergarten teacher, Mr. Robert Lee Hunter. While the past two weeks have been filled with heavy hearts, they have also reminded us of the incredible light he brought into our building every single day.

Mr. Hunter had a truly special connection to International School #45—it is where he began his own education as a child, and where he chose to spend the final chapter of his meaningful teaching career. As a proud graduate of Buffalo State College and a lifelong champion for local youth, his impact reached far across the Buffalo Public School System, including his work with Buffalo Prep and My Brother’s Keeper. His incredible dedication was even recognized city-wide when he was named a finalist for the Excellence in Education Award in 2021.

To our students and staff, he was a compassionate mentor, an exceptional educator, and a genuinely joyful presence.

Though he is no longer with us in our hallways, his spirit remains a permanent part of our community. We will continue to honor him, his kindness, and his dedication to our students every single day.

We send our continuous love and deepest condolences to his family, his loved ones, and everyone in our school family holding his memory close. 🤍

Celebrating Our Young Artists at School 45! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the talent and creativity of our students! As part of the BPS initiative, the Buffalo Public Schools Department of Arts is showcasing the amazing artistic growth of youth across the district, from Pre-K through 12th grade.

At School 45, we are highlighting four standout projects:

"The Bear Came Along" – A beautiful and expressive piece by Isabella (2nd Grade, Mrs. Berton).

"Over and Under the Snow" – A detailed painted collage exploring winter hibernation by Jerry (3rd Grade, Mrs. Berton).

Watercolor Water Lilies – A vibrant and serene masterwork by Daniat (5th Grade, Mrs. Pembelton).

Winter Scene – A stunning and atmospheric watercolor by Elizabeth (8th Grade, Mrs. Pembelton). 🎨

It is truly inspiring to see how our students bring literature and the world around them to life. Please help us give these talented artists a round of applause in the comments! 🎈✨

Big smiles in room 122 today! 🌱 Our kindergarteners have been having the best time learning all about plants.

We’ve been busy exploring the different parts of a plant and how the life cycle works. The students also got to be little architects and designed their own tiny houses. 🏡

The most exciting part? We are officially trying to grow our own "yards" now! We planted seeds all around our houses and can’t wait to watch the grass start to sprout. It is so much fun seeing our students get so excited about science! 🪴

Meet Dougie, our favorite golden retriever who helps Mrs. Pyne bring reading to life 🐾📚

He spends his days listening to first graders read their very best stories and taking his job as therapy dog very seriously… even if it means getting a little sleepy halfway through 😴

Ms. Costello’s and Mr. Hunter’s kindergarten classes have been hard at work in art with Mrs. Berton! ❤️🎨

Students created beautiful cardinal scenes using a fun shaving cream technique—mixing liquid watercolor to design bright, wavy skies on white paper. They then drew trees and branches, cut out bold red cardinals, and carefully assembled their masterpieces.

We are so proud of our creative kindergarteners—amazing work! 👏🏻✨

Spring recess may be over, but we were so excited to welcome everyone back today 🌸📚 We hope your time off was safe, relaxing, and filled with fun.
