Michael Brouder, Senior BA-Music/Piano student, was awarded Buffalo State's prestigious Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship for 2026. Students in this program spend about 250 hours over the summer taking a deep dive into a topic relevant to their course of study. Under the mentorship of Professor of Piano Emily Boyce, Michael examined several Piano Sonatas by the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, looking at how external influences impact compositional style. His final paper was entitled “Sergei Prokofiev: Influences, Deviation from Tradition, and Development of an Individual Style." Congratulations Michael!
