our moral intuitions (e.g. people hurting me/others is bad, a sense of personal/cultural identity is important, living is good). We then use that position to justify various solutions to the problems inherent in the issues above. Every year, our organization assembles a team to participate in the Northeast Regional Ethics Bowl a discussion based competition where teams are graded on the quality of their arguments related to ethical issues. The issues themselves are released prior to the competiton (usually early September) in the form of a case study (see documents for example). As a team, we use the very same process described above to come up with a position concerning the major ethical issue in the case study. That position then is argued at the competition in front of a panel of judges. The competition is hosted by the variety of schools that regularly attend. In the years past, hosts have been Marist College (Poughkeepsie, NY), Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH), and Union College (Schenectady, NY). It takes place mid November of every year. It is our goal to bring people together and have orderly discussions about controversial subjects. It is our passion to understand those subjects through a finer lense. We hope you will join us!
