ills that help them excel in their chosen career and life goals. Our organization "Prepares Great Women for the World - and the World for Great Women". The Miss Buffalo Scholarship Organization is a 501© 3 tax exempt nonprofit entity. Received donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law and as per the advice of your accountant. The Miss Buffalo Scholarship Organization has made tens of thousands of dollars available in scholarships and in-kind funds to young women locally. Developed by the Miss America Organization, the Miss America program exists to provide personal and professional opportunities for young women. Miss America has evolved in society, just as women in society have evolved. Candidates are no longer judged on outward appearance, and this is demonstrated by the elimination of the swimsuit competition. The organization stands for empowering young women across the country to be the best they can be through leadership, talent, communication skills and smarts. To become Miss America, a contestant must first win a local competition and then compete to represent her state, a process requiring personal commitment, hard work and talent. A woman may compete at the state level more than once, but may only compete in the national Miss America competition one time. Thousands of women participate each year in the local and state events, culminating in the selection of 52 national finalists who vie for the Miss America title. Tens of thousands of volunteers organize the local and state preliminary competitions, promoting community involvement throughout the United States and furthering scholarship and achievement among young women in their communities. The Miss America Organization (MAO) is a 501 © 4 nonprofit organization that controls and oversees the local, state and national competition framework, and hosts the annual Miss America Competition and telecast. Miss America candidates working towards college or postgraduate degrees can earn scholarship awards to help further their education. MAO is comprised of 51 licensed organizations- including all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The Miss America Foundation (MAF) is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization that empowers women through career resources and educational scholarships. In addition to awards for women competing in the Miss America program, the MAF offers scholarships to women in the categories of medicine, business, STEM, military service, equity and justice work, social impact, athletics, the performing arts, and more.
