Denim Day has become an opportunity to make a social statement with a fashion statement and wear jeans as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault. More than that, it’s a day when we can come together and make a difference. Today, we gathered a month’s worth of donated items from across our 3 campuses and assembled so many Comfort Kits we couldn’t fit them all in one van! For of we are hiding a rock with the phone number of Crisis Services, Erie County's designated r**e crisis center, somewhere near South Lake Village on UB's North Campus. As we observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we must honor the truth that survivor experiences are not one-size-fits-all. Trauma doesn’t follow a script, and neither does recovery. When we realize that every journey is shaped by unique identities, backgrounds, and personal resilience, we move away from judgment and toward true empathy.
