Holy Cross Head Start

We are so proud of how far all of our students have come this year. As a whole, HCHS students made a 52% increase in all developmental areas. Way to go!!!! A huge shout out to our amazing staff who work day in and day out helping the children grow and learn to their fullest potential.

The children in all 26 HCHS classrooms enjoy observing the smallest caterpillars grow and turn into the prettiest butterflies.

We LOVED showing our staff how much they mean to us this week!! We hope they know how much we appreciate them!!

Spring has sprung and we are so excited to be exploring our neighborhoods. Room One at our Dewitt Center has been taking walks to see their neighborhood and community! Today they walked to the post office and the other day they found a cool mural in the neighborhood.

It’s springtime in Central room 7. The forsythia is here! Children have been observing changes in the forsythia since it was brought in from the cold to our warm classroom. Children have used science skills such as observation, prediction, knowledge of the Earth’s environment and of living things. Through this ongoing activity, children also work on developing vocabulary, counting, writing and drawing, and social skills such as turn taking and following expectations.

This week we continued our collaboration with CEPA Gallery and Mr. Vicente. He showed us how to use a camera and we were able to take fun pictures all over our classrooms. We are excited to work with him throughout the rest of this month!!

It was a great week kicking off the reading of Mail Duck II!!! We loved having Erica and Meg back in our classrooms and are excited for next week!! Alice, Ever After Books
