Sophomore and Junior Jumpstart Workshop — Stress Free College Admissions 12/10/2025

Do you have a 10th or 11th grader?

Feeling overwhelmed by the college admissions process? Worried that you are starting too late (or too early)? Not sure even HOW to start?

Just exhale! I’ve got you!

I’m excited to offer my popular Jumpstart Workshop for current sophomores and juniors. It’s on Sat 1/24 from 10am to 1pm at the CoLab on UB North Campus.

Afterward, there will be an optional meeting for parents from 1 to 2pm, featuring Melissa Cook from Test Preps and Andy Leardini from College Financing Group. They’ll answer questions about ACT/SAT prep, financial aid, and FAFSA and CSS form completion.

Anxiety and misinformation surround the college admissions process. This warm and welcoming workshop will decrease stress and empower students (and, of course, help parents stay sane). By learning how to make the most of the next year (or two) of high school, we’ll set goals and optimize college admissions outcomes.

The fee for the workshop is $100 (which includes the optional parent session). This has sold out every time I’ve offered it, so reserve your spot soon.

For specific details on what I’ll cover, check out the registration link below.

What, like it’s hard?

Congratulations on submitting the Common App before the holidays!

Reminder: keep an eye on your portals for any new notifications or actionables!

Avoid the college application drama….and keep the peace in your home.

The most meaningful compliments that I receive are that I help families navigate this process in a way that preserves relationships. Junior and senior year are stressful enough without adding shouting matches and endless nagging about college apps.

I’m proud to offer services that keep kids calm and focused…and keep parents sane.

“A B in an AP is better than an A in a non-AP, but a C is never good.”
Try saying that 10 times fast.

But seriously, transcript is king in this process. The rigor of the classes you take – and your performance in them – is the most important part of your application. A high ACT/SAT is glamorous and exciting, but it’s your day-to-day work in the classroom that shows colleges who you really are as a student.

I break it all down for you here, https://www.stressfreeadmissions.com/blog/test-score-importance

Congratulations! You’ve submitted the Common App. Is it time to sit back and relax? Not exactly.

✅ Make sure you are consistently monitoring your inbox and looking for invitations to the school-specific portals.

✅ Have you filled out FAFSA and/or CSS? Go check the Financial Aid section of the Common App dashboard.

✅ Keep track of any other deadlines related to the colleges you applied to, like recommendation letter due dates, financial aid priority deadlines, etc…

🎉 Do a little happy dance! You’ve accomplished the hardest part, I promise!

The biggest scholarships are *instititional aid*- that is, merit awards given directly by the colleges. I help students and families find the schools where they will receive maximum amounts of money. The best part? I get apps in *early* so you’ll hear back from some schools in October or November…before many students have even submitted their applications. I’m currently accepting a limited number of sophomores & juniors. Contact me soon as my 2027 cohort will fill by March!

“What I liked best about working on my college applications with Anne Marie is that she was more like a friend than a teacher. She helped me do some of the best pieces of writing I think I have ever done, but she also made me laugh and helped keep things in perspective.” – S.T., student, Williamsville East High School, Cornell University

I love this feedback because that’s exactly how I want students to feel; supported, encouraged, and confident as they tackle essays and applications.

It doesn’t have to be so hard, and we can find the fun in it, too!

When you register for the SAT or ACT, they’ll offer to send your scores to colleges for free.
Sounds great, right?

🚨 Not so fast!

Always wait until you see your scores before sending them. Once you hit send, you can’t take it back, and you want to be strategic about which scores colleges see.

Want help deciding whether to send or not? When you work with me, I'll help answer that question and many more. I'm currently accepting a limited cohort of current juniors and sophomores. Apply by filling out my contact form: https://www.stressfreeadmissions.com/contact
