Research Lab students showed up and spoke up today, sharing their learning through poster presentations that reflected curiosity, creativity, and serious academic work. From sea lions to Chinese pottery, soil phage bacteria to Mongol war tactics, our students explored topics as unique as they are.

They presented with confidence, poise, and passion, truly impressive to watch. We also had student artwork on display, a reminder that with a little paint and a big imagination, our students can create incredible things.

So proud of our scholars and deeply grateful to our staff for the guidance, encouragement, and preparation that made this event such a success.

In this Studio in Art lesson, students explored the unique art style of reverse perspective, a technique that creates the illusion that objects and spaces are coming outward toward the viewer instead of moving backward into space. Students studied the work of Patrick Hughes, the artist most famous for developing modern reverse perspective artworks called “reverspectives.” His work combines painting, sculpture, geometry, and optical illusion to challenge how the human eye understands space and depth.
By combining creativity with technical problem-solving, students discovered how artists often think like mathematicians, engineers, and designers when creating complex visual spaces.

💚🤍 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY 🤍💚 Congrats to Research Lab’s 2025-2026 NHS members who celebrated at their Induction Ceremony this week! 🥳 These students were voted in by a faculty council based upon review of National Honor Society’s 4 pillars - Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Current NHS Officers also selected Mrs. Mioducki as our first honorary faculty member to be inducted! We are so proud of the commitment they make to demonstrate what being a Raptor is all about every single day! 🦖

Designed to launch or built to protect?! From egg drop devices that could (hopefully) take the fall, to LEGO catapults bringing the force, Raptors are learning success is equal parts creativity and calculation when it comes to engineering! Come join in the fun with the Science & Engineering Club on Wednesdays afterschool! Shout out to UB & for sponsoring our favorite way to test physics, problem solving and collaboration!
