City Honors Junior Shane Jordan is the first ever Buffalo Public Schools student to get a Hole In One on the 9th hole (98 yards) at Delaware Park Golf Course. He used a 58 degree wedge. Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Congratulations to our latest honorees. Coaches Christine Piscopo and Andrew Bush both got recognized last night at the Section VI Sportsmanship Award banquet. Christine has had a distinguished career coaching and teaching for 27 years at both school # 81 and Riverside HS. She's coached almost every sport at every level including Cross country, volleyball, bowling and tennis. Andrew has been coaching multiple sports and teaching in BPS 24 years. He has coached Cross country and softball but his claim to fame is Olmsted basketball. Last season Bush led the Olmsted Owls to Class B Section VI Championship and his team made it all the way to the state final four in Binghamton!

🏈 Hey BPS 7th & 8th Graders and Family! 🏈
Ready for some football? Join the 2026 Buffalo Public Schools Modified Football Program!

Practices will take place Monday, August 17 through Saturday, August 22, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Waterfront Elementary School (95 Fourth Street).

This season, we are excited to offer two teams: Buffalo Blue and Buffalo White. We encourage families to review the school assignments for each team to determine which roster your student-athlete should join. Please note that both teams will practice together at Waterfront Elementary during the first week.

What to Bring:
Sneakers/athletic shoes
Water bottle
Positive attitude and energy!

FAMILIES OF 7/8TH GRADERS!!!

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) recently revised the Athletic Placement Process (APP), which is required for middle school students (7th or 8th Graders) who wish to try out for a high school-level athletic team. Under the updated regulations, participation in the APP must be approved through the district's established process before a student may be eligible to try out for a JV or Varsity team.

To be considered for participation, families must complete the APP Request Form and carefully review the updated APP procedures and eligibility requirements.

Please note that completion of the APP does not guarantee a roster spot or team selection. Students who are approved through the APP process will be evaluated using the same team-selection criteria as all other athletes trying out for that team. Previously passing the old format of APP does not exempt any athlete from the new process. All athletes must complete the new process.

Get ready to bring the spirit! We’re excited to introduce Buffalo Public Schools Modified Cheer, a brand-new district-wide program for students in grades 7–9.

Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, build confidence, or prepare for varsity cheer, this team is the perfect place to grow. Athletes will cheer on our teams during the fall game-day season and have the opportunity to compete during the winter season.
