Safety first!

We're excited to share an important E-mobility safety video for our students and the Cooper community, produced in partnership with our friends at the Village of Buffalo Grove. This video highlights simple but important ways to stay safe while riding around our neighborhoods.

Last month, students in Mrs. Brand’s, Mr. T.J.’s, and Ms. Andrews' classes participated in a pet therapy experience. The therapy dogs provided a calming and reassuring presence, offering emotional comfort and promoting positive school engagement. Students had the opportunity to interact with and pet the dogs throughout the visit. Research has shown that school therapy dogs can help reduce stress, improve academic focus, decrease anxiety, and increase students’ motivation to participate in learning activities.

For their final project of the school year, our Student Council surprised staff members with handwritten notes recognizing the qualities they appreciate most — from kindness and positivity to dedication and support. Along with each note, students delivered a flower, spreading smiles and joy throughout the building.

We’re proud to announce that Sarah Swanson has been approved as Longfellow’s next assistant principal, starting July 1.

Sarah brings experience as an assistant principal in Round Lake Area Schools and is known as a collaborative, student-centered leader with a strong background in teaching and learning. Her commitment to building positive relationships will help continue the strong sense of community at Longfellow.

“I look forward to partnering with staff, students and families to support a positive and successful school community,” Swanson shared.
