After some questions: More details for SPEED CAMP below!
The purpose of our Speed Camp is to teach young athletes how to run faster through proper mechanics, rhythm, and movement efficiency. This is not a conditioning camp or a sport-specific camp—it is a sprint development camp.
Participants will learn the same drills, techniques, and coaching methods that we use every day with our Jim Ned middle school and high school athletes. Speed is a skill that can be taught, and developing proper running form at a young age provides a strong foundation for success in any sport.
Whether your child plays football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, track, or simply wants to become a more confident and athletic mover, this camp is designed to help them improve. By focusing on posture, arm action, stride mechanics, rhythm, and coordination, athletes will develop better movement habits that translate into faster sprinting and improved overall athletic performance.
One thing that makes this camp unique is its schedule. Rather than meeting several consecutive days in one week like a traditional camp, we intentionally meet just two days each week. Sprint training is a high-intensity activity that requires adequate recovery to maximize improvement. Back-to-back-to-back training days often lead to fatigue, which reduces the quality of movement and limits skill development.
Just as importantly, speed is a learned skill that is built through repetition over time—not in a few consecutive days. Spacing sessions out over several weeks gives athletes the opportunity to revisit the same drills and techniques, reinforce proper movement patterns, and develop lasting habits. Our goal isn't just for athletes to run faster during camp; it's to give them the tools and foundation to continue improving long after the camp is over.
