Have you ever taken one of Sandi Cirillo's classes on Shibori Silk Scarf painting? It is SO much fun and each student will go home with TWO beautiful scarves that they will have painted. Lisa Oettinger's Watercolor Open Studio was so popular last week, that she is running another one! This Saturday, April 15 from 9 am to 12pm, in the lower level of the Lighthouse Gallery. Come and paint with other watercolor artists and enjoy the creative atmosphere! Lisa is there to consult with as you paint your own works. A donation of $10 is requested. This week, we're pleased to feature local author, Laurie Apgar Chandler!

When life took a dramatic turn, it was a moment of awakening for Laurie Apgar Chandler of Bremen, Maine. Her lifelong love of the outdoors became the foundation for a new passion, solo wilderness tripping. In 2015, Laurie became the first woman to solo thru-paddle the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a story told in her inspirational debut memoir, Upwards. Her second book, Through Woods & Waters, chronicles her explorations of Maine's Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. For many years, Laurie has been grateful to call Maine home, treasuring the small moments spent snowshoeing, swimming, or discovering new wildflowers just as much as her continuing grand adventures.
