As we prepare for the new school year, we want to remind everyone that we transitioned to BusRight as our new student transportation platform last spring. This platform enhances communication, improves student safety, and provides families with greater visibility into their child's transportation experience.
The safety of our students is always our highest priority. As school transportation continues to evolve, systems like BusRight have become the industry standard for school districts across the country. By implementing BusRight, White River School District is investing in technology that strengthens communication between families and our Transportation Department while providing real-time information that gives parents greater peace of mind.
With BusRight, families will be able to:
Track their child's school bus in real time.
View estimated arrival times at their student's bus stop.
Receive notifications when the bus begins and completes its route.
Receive important updates and communications directly from our Transportation Department.
In addition to providing families with real-time information, BusRight also improves student accountability by utilizing a Student Pass Card. Students will scan their assigned card each time they board and exit a school bus, whether traveling to and from school, on field trips, or for extracurricular activities. This allows the district to better monitor student transportation while providing families with increased visibility into when their child has boarded or exited the bus.
Getting Started with BusRight
Getting connected is easy:
Download the BusRight app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Please note that BusRight is available only as a mobile app and is not accessible through a website.
Watch for your invitation email.
August 17, 2026, families will receive an invitation from [email protected] at the email address currently listed in Skyward. This is similar to the one that was sent out Spring of 2026. If you already registered in the Spring of 2026 when we did a soft start, you do not need to do this again.
Create your account.
Open the BusRight app and select Sign Up or Register.
Create your account using the same email address on file in Skyward and verify your email. (Only parents who have an email in Skyward for White River will be able to to login into BusRight)
Verify your email address by clicking the verification link sent to your inbox.
Turn on app notifications.
Enabling notifications ensures you receive important route updates, arrival notifications, and transportation alerts.
Student Pass Cards
Every student in the district will receive a Student Pass Card containing a unique barcode assigned specifically to them.
Students will:
Scan their card each time they board and exit a school bus.
Use the same card for daily transportation, field trips, and extracurricular or athletic trips.
Receive a lanyard so the card can easily be attached to a backpack or bag.
Distribution Timeline
Students who ride the bus to and from school will get their cards first and all other students will get their cards later in September or Early October.
Early Learning Center: Cards will be distributed during the WA KIDS meetings with their teachers.
All other schools: Cards for students who ride the bus to and from school will be distributed through each school by mid-September.
Students will not need a Student Pass Card to ride the bus during the first days of school while cards are being distributed. Students will continue to ride as normal until all Student Pass Cards have been issued.
If a student loses their Student Pass Card:
Report it to the school office for a replacement. (No charge)
If it is lost before the morning bus ride, the bus driver will allow the student to ride.
Once a replacement is issued, the previous card is automatically deactivated.
Because issuing replacement cards takes additional time, lost cards can delay bus departures and arrival times. We encourage students to keep their Student Pass attached to their backpack or another item they bring with them each day.
If you have any questions, please contact our Transportation Department or your child's school.
