Tim Derico appointed new superintendent of Upshur County Schools effective July 1 BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — West Virginia Superintendent of Schools Michele L. Blatt has appointed Tim Derico as the new Superintendent of Upshur County Schools, effective July 1, 2026.

Due to inclement weather, all Upshur County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay, Tuesday, March 17.

Snow Day Waiver Approved - No Calendar Changes

Upshur County Schools has received approval from the WVDE State Superintendent for our snow day waiver request. As a result, the district calendar remains the same no makeup days are required at this time.
We’ll continue to monitor weather conditions. If future inclement weather impacts the calendar, we will update families and staff immediately through our website, social media, and direct notifications.
