Hello again everyone. It's time to start ramping up production for this year's Gifted Camp, which runs from Jun 21 to July 4. We have quite a few registrants already, but April and May are our real sweet spots for sign ups. I am excited to announce that Owen Caynor will be returning, this year as head counselor, and he is filling out the rest of his crew. I have asked for the lower floors of the dorm, which are much cooler than the upper floors. Alex Bradley-Popovich will be joining the faculty to help out with Physics and our new botanist Chris Waters will be taking on Environmental Science.
Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program
Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program is an academic and social camp for gifted students in grades 5 - 12. Students attend classes and participate in activities.
All campus facilities are open to them, including the swimming pool, tennis courts, and performing arts center. Guest speakers and musicians come, and we eat out in town at least twice and have a movie night. The last night of camp showcases the campers' talents in our annual talent show. Many of our campers come back year after year.
Everybody has checked out. All of our equipment has been cleared out of the dorm. I am going to take a very long nap in an air conditioned space.
I want to thank all of you for sharing your kids with us for the last 2 weeks. It has been so much fun having bright, young students to challenge and to do neat stuff with.
I hope you'll all come back next year. Our dates for 2026 will be Jun 21 to Jul 4.

Our last exercise in computer science for the 7th/8th grade class was moving through a starfield.

Dr. James Moore, the president of the College, inspects Gavin's pocket trumpet. Dr. Moore is an accomplished trumpet player and was one of our music professors before becoming Dean and then President.

Some last pics from classes -- these are from environmental science.
We have a venue change for the talent show. It will still be at 7 pm tomorrow (Friday) evening, but we will be in the Chapel instead of Hyma Auditorium.
The AC in Christopher Hall is horrible, but the Chapel is nice and cold and it has a piano. The pews will be uncomfortable, but the cold air will make up for it.
The Chapel is right in the middle of campus, so those of you coming to the talent show can park at the end of the long parking lot that the dorm is on and just walk the short distance to the Chapel entrance.

With the heat, the upper floors of Reemsnyder have become unbearably hot, but the 1st floor, where Dr. Oldroyd teaches math and computer science, is still quite comfortable. As always, the library is the place to be with the hot weather.

In creative arts, the kids are doing water colors and papier mache.

In computer science, we've been modeling some classic physics experiments, such as projectile motion and falling bodies, and we've been modelling some math tools, such as making square waves and finding the minimum of a function.

We have a few pictures from the creative writing and environmental science classes.
I'd like to give a shout out to our counselors this year. One of the things the kids asked for last year was more say in the planned activities. The counselors have designed most activities this year on-the-fly with input from the kids. The kids also wanted more unstructured down time just to socialize and they really love that this year.
I learned why we were put on the upper floors of the dorm this year -- the College is doing a bit of a makeover and crews have been on the lower floors patching walls and painting. Next year, the dorm should look quite nice.
