🎓 Senior Spotlight: Alexa Davis
is a Fall 2025 graduate in Elementary Education at WV Wesleyan College.

She says "One moment that truly made me feel like a teacher happened during my time in the classroom when one of the students spoke up and said, “What about Miss Davis? Don’t forget about her, she is our teacher too.” That moment really stuck with me because it showed that the students saw me as more than just someone helping in the room—they recognized me as their teacher.
It meant a lot to hear that because I work hard to build relationships with my students and support them in their learning every day. Hearing a student say that made me feel appreciated and reminded me that the effort I put into the classroom is making a difference. It was a small moment, but it was very meaningful and confirmed that I am truly becoming the teacher I hope to be."

And moving forward she is most excited to "...become a teacher and have my own classroom where I can create a positive and welcoming environment for my students. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with each of them and getting to know their personalities, interests, and strengths.
Creating fun, supportive connections with my students is something I value deeply, because I believe strong relationships help students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. I am excited to make my classroom a place where students feel seen, heard, and excited to come each day."

Alexa says "My favorite memory from my education program at WVWC was when we had the opportunity to go to Tennerton Elementary for a reading class and work one-on-one with students. It was so rewarding to help them grow in their reading skills and build meaningful connections with them.
What makes this experience even more special is that some of those same students are now in my 3rd grade classroom two years later. Being able to continue those relationships and see how much they’ve grown over time has been incredibly meaningful and reminds me why I chose to become a teacher."
