In the spring of 2013, Rainbow Valley was tasked by the Governing Board with finding a magnet school theme that would enhance the educational program of our school. We felt strongly that we needed our theme to help all students lead successful, well-rounded lives and help inspire them to be the best they could be. A team of parents and staff visited two local leadership schools and were impressed
by what they saw from the students there. The Rainbow Valley Site Council and staff knew that we had found the right theme for our school, leadership! In the summer of 2013, our entire staff, teachers, paraprofessionals, office staff and cafeteria staff were trained in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The training, led by Mike Suto, was incredible. It was a springboard to our leadership work and provided powerful ways to improve our leadership skills. Our school has adopted The Leader in Me Program to bring the 7 Habits to our students and community. The Leader in Me integrates the principles of personal leadership and effectiveness into our school curriculum. It creates a common language and school culture built on proven, principle-based leadership skills found in the 7 Habits. Our main goals this year are to introduce the 7 Habits to our students, begin redecorating our school with a leadership theme and increase the leadership roles for all of our students. We are very proud of the ongoing work that our students and staff are doing.
