And that’s a wrap on Buchanan’s 2026 band camp!

This group of kids are some of the hardest working kids around, and have a genuine desire to be great.

Our section of the week was the COLOR GUARD!

Today was section color day, and we had a winner in our “march off”!

Thank you to everybody that made this week possible, we truly appreciate you all! Special thank you to the Buchanan City Fire Department for cooling the kiddos off!

Next week is post camp, Monday-Wednesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Let’s keep this momentum rolling!

Day 4 of band camp is complete! Today the band set the entirety of song 2 on the field, and was able to avoid the rain in the process!

Section of the day was the DRUMLINE!

Thank you to our senior for sharing during “senior minute” today!

We had some fantastic “space” outfits, and a great group of kids stayed after to play our “friend” game where you see how well you know your friends!

Special shout-out to our front ensemble section leader, who was awarded member of the day for going above and beyond what was asked of him, and clearly led his section to a strong finish to end a long day!

Tomorrow is the last day of band camp, and the theme is section color day!

Day 3 of Band Camp in the books! Today the kids got all of the opener in the field, and ended rehearsal with a full run!

The opener is 3 minutes of music and marching, which is almost half of our show. It is quite the undertaking, and the band is doing a fabulous job learning it!

Today the section of the day was the flute section!

We had 2 more seniors speak with the band during the “senior minute” to end rehearsal, giving words of wisdom to the younger students!

Thank you so much to our wonderful band parents for providing lunches for the band this week, as well as popsicles and other great things!

Our dress day was “white lie” day, and there were some pretty good ones!

Tomorrow the theme is space day, hope to see some out of this world outfits!

Reminder, our community/parent performance is on Friday at 5:30pm at Memorial Stadium! Hope to see you there!

Band camp day 2 is in the books!

Another great day for the kids, putting in a ton of hard work from 8am until 5pm, with some staying late for an activity to continue team building (and get popsicles).

Congratulations to our section(s) of the day, being a combination of our tenor saxes and baritones!

We had some great contestants for “twin day”. We also had 2 seniors speak for our senior minute at the end of rehearsal, where our seniors say a few inspiring words to the group!

Tomorrow is “white lie” day for our theme, and we will have another fun activity after rehearsal as well! (Our scavenger hunt!)

That’s a wrap on Day 1 of Buchanan High School Band Camp!

Today the crew learned a good chunk of their 1st song, marching and playing that chunk from memory.

They braved the heat of the summer afternoon, and finished on a high note! (Ha ha ha!)

Congratulations to the Colorguard for being the section of the day, keep being the energy!

Tomorrow the dress day is “twin day” and the activity after rehearsal will be Sharks and Minnows.

With Pre Camp complete, the Buchanan Marching Band begins Band Camp tomorrow morning, bright and early!

After a week of hard work, we will be putting on a performance for anybody in the community to attend, free of charge, to show what we have accomplished over the week.

This performance will be Friday, 8/7 at 5:30pm at Memorial Field.

Last night wrapped up rookie and leadership pre camp! They got a TON done, and are excited for full band pre camp to begin tonight at 6:00pm!

Rookie pre camp is an opportunity for our leadership to get more 1 on 1 time with new members, to get them up to speed before all members return.

Great job to our new members and our student leaders! Go Bucks!

This past Saturday, Buchanan had SIXTEEN 7th and 8th grade band students perform at MSBOA District VI Solo and Ensemble Festival at Upton Middle School!

Solo and Ensemble offers a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, and is the best way to improve as a musician! They prepared Solos, Duets, and a Quintet for judges (professionals in the music field) and received scores, feedback and some medals!

Thank you parents, for your continued support of your students, Buchanan Schools and our band program!

Congrats to our 4 students who made it into Western Michigan University All Star Honor Band!

Megan Gair, Emma Davidson, Charles Spencer and Echo Mott are with Mr. Lynch for a LONG 14+ hour day preparing for their concert tonight with students from high schools all over Michigan!
