The Twelve Labors of Hercules aren’t finished yet. Kindergarteners gathered outside today with Mr. Chilbert to receive their Summer Labor assignments — one final challenge standing between them and a completed Good Life keychain come fall.
The Good Life class is taught to every student at MLCA by Mr. Chilbert, our principal, and is rooted in the philosophy of Aristotle: that virtue is not taught by lecture, but practiced through habit. These children have spent the year doing exactly that and they’re not done yet.
This is what it looks like when a school takes the formation of character as seriously as the formation of the mind. Tours and info sessions are available by request this summer. E-mail [email protected] or fill out the form in our bio.
Already an MLCA family? Tag us in your child’s Summer Labor this fall.

Student art has left the building — and it’s beautiful. 🎨
A gorgeous collection of MLCA artwork is now on display at 228 Haverford Ave in Narberth, thanks to a wonderful collaboration between , our art teacher, and .studio + .art .
If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and see what our students are creating.
P.S. — Kindergarten enrollment is still open. This is just a small preview of what your child could be part of. 🔗 mainlineclassical.org/academics/art-and-music

Friday field trips hit different at MLCA.
Our students saw Joshua at — one of the great stories of the Western tradition, brought to life on one of the most extraordinary stages in the country.
Leadership. Courage. The weight of a mission larger than yourself. These are the themes our students have been living with all year — in the Great Books, in history, in the classroom.
Sight & Sound puts it on a 300-foot stage with live animals. We’re here for it.
P.S. We still have space in Kindergarten for 2026–2027 — if you’ve been on the fence, now is the time. 🔗 Link in bio.
P.P.S. MLCA’s core curriculum is secular and classical. Optional religious studies courses are available for families who want them — taught academically, as part of a complete classical education.

Seventh grade didn’t just study the Founding — they inhabited it.
Mr. Gormley’s Constitutional Philadelphia tour took our seventh graders through the streets where it all actually happened. Signers’ Hall. Independence Hall. The site of the Fort Wilson riot. The graves at Christ Church. City Tavern.
Every stop was a name they knew — because they’d spent the year reading the primary sources.
To cap it off, a visit to — where they rang the Liberty Bell replica and learned why freedom of assembly still matters.
This is classical education in action.

🚀 S.P.Q.Robots: Combining Roman History, Science, and Python! 🤖
Our robotics team, the S.P.Q.Robots—which stands for Super Powered Quantum Robots and gives a nod to their love of Latin and Roman history—is making exciting progress this FIRST LEGO League season!
For their Innovation Project, the team is tackling a real-world challenge: safely transporting fragile artifacts. They are designing a sealed container that mimics natural environments to protect these delicate objects on their way to conservation labs.
They aren't doing it alone! The team is collaborating with a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University to bring this ambitious idea to life!
Meanwhile, the students are sharpening their Python coding skills to program their LEGO robot for the competition missions.
With their regional qualifying tournament coming up in December, the S.P.Q.Robots are combining creativity, collaboration, and a passion for learning to build something truly remarkable.
Go team!
