All new K-5 students are invited to ride the bus on Thursday, August 20 at 12 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to see what it’s like to ride the bus, learn bus safety expectations, and meet the Director of Transportation.

Make accessing important school information quick and easy by downloading the apps your family uses throughout the school year.

📅 HACK #2: Subscribe to RTSD Calendars!

Did you know you can have RTSD school calendars automatically appear in your personal calendar? The RTSD website has a Subscribe to Calendars section with iCal feeds for District Events, Instructional Calendar Dates, Ithan Elementary Events, Cycle Days, and Elementary Lunch Menus.

📲 For iPhone/iOS:
1️⃣ Visit the RTSD Calendar page⁠ and scroll to Subscribe to Calendars.
2️⃣ Choose the calendar you want to follow—Ithan Elementary School Events is a great one to start with!
3️⃣ Copy the Standard iCal URL listed for that calendar.
4️⃣ On your iPhone, go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar.
5️⃣ Paste the iCal URL, tap Next, make any changes you’d like, and tap Save.

💡 Pro tip: You can subscribe to multiple calendars, so your phone can keep track of school events, important instructional dates, cycle days, and lunch menus all in one place!

Here are a few helpful reminders to help your family start the year off right:

📚 School Hours
• Breakfast (free for all students) begins at 8:45 AM
• Student arrival begins at 8:55 AM
• Instruction starts promptly at 9:05 AM
• Dismissal is at 3:40 PM

✏️ Attendance & Dismissal
• Report absences to Leslie Kingston at [email protected] or call the office.
• Excuse notes are required within three days of an absence.
• Any dismissal changes should be communicated to the teacher and office before 9:00 AM.

🏫 Visitors
• All visitors must report to the office and obtain a visitor badge through the Raptor system.

🍎 Lunch & Snacks
• Students enjoy daily recess and lunch periods.
• Please send nut-free snacks that are easy to eat and do not require utensils.
• Students are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle.

📱 School-Day Expectations
• Personal electronic devices, including cell phones and smart watches, should remain off and out of sight during the school day.

🚨 Update Your Information
• Please ensure emergency contacts and family information are current before the first day of school.

🎓 Fifth Grade Farewell is almost here! 🎓

We are looking forward to celebrating our amazing 5th graders on Wednesday, June 10, at 10:00 AM as they mark this special milestone. Families, please be sure to review the important ceremony details, including Raptor registration requirements and dismissal information.

As our students prepare to take their next big step, we want to congratulate the Class of 2026 and wish each of them success, happiness, and confidence as they begin their middle school journey. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and can’t wait to see all they achieve in the years ahead!
