This past weekend, a father and son sat down together for Professor Neil Simonetti's Introduction to Python Programming workshop — the very first offering in our new Lifelong Learning program! It made for a great first run, and the interest it's already drummed up has us excited for what's next. This is just the beginning: more sessions from BACNC faculty and alumni are coming soon. Welcome Day is almost here! 🎉

Small has its perks — we can invite our whole campus community to one big Welcome Day celebration. On Tuesday, August 25, our students, faculty, and staff kick off the new academic year together with a Campus BBQ, dessert and the President's Welcome at Glencairn Museum, and s'mores by the fire pit. ☀️🔥

That's the kind of close-knit community we get to be part of at Bryn Athyn.

Scoops of joy at the Swedenborg Library! 🍨

Our Second Annual Summer Social was a sweet success! Library Director Andi Sibley whipped up a batch of homemade ice cream and vegan mango sorbet (yes, really — homemade!), and our wonderfully welcoming library staff pulled together another cozy, delicious gathering for the Bryn Athyn College community.

If you haven't discovered the Library Cafe yet, consider this your official invitation. It's one of campus's best-kept secrets, a warm little home-away-from-home where students, faculty, and friends gather to chat, study, and enjoy a scoop or two together.

Update: A Bench, A Family, A Beautiful Day

Rev. Christopher Barber (M.Div. '13, BA '10) and Dr. Annika Barber (BS '08) are honoring their friend Carina Heinrichs (BA '09) with a beautiful tribute—a dedicated bronze bench on our campus.

On Sunday, June 27, that tribute became real. The Heinrichs family was already in town for a wedding, and amid the weekend's festivities came a very special addition: the dedication of Carina's bench, honoring a cherished daughter, cousin, and friend to many. Carina's father, Bob, personally helped install the dedication plaque—a labor of love that took a little tinkering to get just right, with Carina's nieces and nephews looking on.

There were tears, but there was also plenty of love and laughter, along with joyful singing—just as Carina would have wanted. Enjoy a few photos and a clip from the dedication below. 💛

No doubt family and friends will enjoy visiting this bench for years to come, sharing with future generations of Heinrichs the power of love and family.

Thank you, Chris and Annika, for this meaningful way to remember a cherished member of our community and create a lasting place of beauty for all through your generous giving.

Through candid conversations, Dr. Yardumian explores how Haglund's spiritual experiences and personal struggles shape music that has moved audiences worldwide.
