Our Story

Are you looking for professional development that’s relative, useful, and truly helps teachers? This is the place. After 31 years of sitting through some of the world’s most boring professional development, I vowed to be different. My presentations are positive and comfortable, and participants ask questions and participate in discussions. I have a varied background with interesting experiences, giving me several areas of expertise.

BAND I was a band director for 19 years and loved every minute of it. (OK, not the bus rides. Not loading percussion in the rain. Not rehearsals in the searing heat of August.) But I love kids and making music and had a fair amount of success as a high school band director in Arkansas. I have presentations for Band Directors Only as well as for directors in Small Schools, Small Bands; Blessing or Curse? I have the training and certification to be an adjudicator for any Arkansas School & Band Association concert or marching assessment.

CTE - CAREER & TECH ED I served for 9 years as the director of a career & tech ed center, employed by the community college while serving 4 area high schools for instruction in what we used to call VoTech courses. CTE teachers come from business and industry, and I have special sessions designed to help in the transition into the educational field. Don’t ignore these great folks; they didn’t take any educational courses because they weren’t trained as a teacher. Let me help you help them to begin a successful career in education.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT and DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION As an elementary principal, I saw a great need for this kind of training for my teachers. As a certified national trainer with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness, Time To Teach I am pleased to be able to share actual techniques and strategies, not just theory, that will give you the opportunity to teach and students the opportunity to learn. Both of these trainings are proven in proactive, research based, practical, and easy to implement strategies. We provide flexibility to best meet the needs unique to your campus. Participants will learn techniques to allow them to always be clear, concise, and consistent with students. In the 6 hour Classroom Management training, teachers will learn about self-control strategies, student-teacher relationships, and successfully responding to challenges. When training in Differentiated Instruction (also 6 hours), teachers will learn about promoting positive feelings, connectedness and relevance, and self-efficacy. Both trainings have a required manual and several available supplemental materials.
