AUDITIONS for An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe: Please read carefully and entirely!

Auditions for the 2026 BHS fall play will be held the following dates, so mark your calendars:
-September 16 (3:00-5:00pm in the BHS Choir Room)
-September 17 (5:00-9:00pm in the BHS Choir Room)
You don't need to sign up for a time slot ahead of time, just come in at a time thats convenient for you.

For these auditions you will need to prepare and memorize a roughly 40-60 second monologue or poem of your choice. This can be one of the short paragraphs posted on Google Classroom, or something of a similar style of your own choosing. There are no wrong choices. Think emotional, dramatic, and dark... perhaps a touch of comedy. We are looking for physicality, commitment, expression, and memorization skills. Keep those things in mind.

You may be asked to read a few pages of the script. These scenes will NOT need to be memorized, and will be posted on classroom as well for you to browse along with a character list.

Lastly, an audition form will need to be submitted before your audition if you plan to audition on one of these dates. The form, as well as a rehearsal schedule, will be posted on classroom and accepting responses on August 18th. Crew application forms will also be posted on this date, if you're interested in being part of a crew.

Of midnight dreary, winding prose.
The answer lingers, dark and slow-

The final bell grows faint and low,
As twilight drifts through halls aglow;
The year now wanes in whispered sighs—
What shadow next before us lies?

Will midnight tales the stage enthrall,
With ravened wings and ancient call?
As summer waits beyond the door…
What play shall haunt these halls once more?
