Imagine a future where medicine can be delivered directly to the brain to treat Alzheimer’s, dementia and brain injuries. 🧠 That’s exactly what researchers at Texas A&M are working on.
Dr. Peter Davies from Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT), Dr. Wenshe Liu from Texas A&M Chemistry and Dr. Vicente Rubio—an IBT post-doctoral fellow—are using a mix of artificial intelligence and chemistry to design special synthetic peptides that transport therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier to treat conditions in the brain.
This cutting-edge work is supported by a Texas A&M Health Dementia and Alzheimer’s Research Initiative seedling grant and could bring new hope for early intervention in neurodegenerative diseases.
