The Norseman, published during each academic school year, covers news, events and students at Bryan High School in Bryan, Texas. Staff members meet daily to plan, write, produce and design both the print and online editions of The Norseman, and compete in Academic UIL events in the Fall and Spring semesters.

When the final whistle sounded, junior Zoe Sonnier had done more than win a match. She had made school history as Bryan High’s first female state wrestling champion, turning months of discipline, redemption, and determination into a title that can never be duplicated. Alongside her, teammate sophomore Katelynn Dockery was making history of her own, becoming the first wrestler from Bryan High to earn All-American honors while continuing her rise as one of the program’s top competitors.
"My mindset going into state was to win positions," Zoe said. "I wanted to do what I do best and set up my shots."
That approach kept her focused in the biggest moments. Zoe said her main priority in the final match was controlling positions while reminding herself to stay mentally and physically strong.
"I realized I had a real shot after I made the finals," Zoe said.

Blake Joseph watches spring practice from the sidelines of Merrill Green Stadium, but his mind drifts back to a different field, and a different sideline from a different time. In 2004, as Bryan High’s quarterback, he stood at Kyle Field after a 26–21 Crosstown Showdown victory over A&M Consolidated. Now, 22 years later, Joseph returns to Bryan High, this time as the head coach and athletic director.
"It’s kind of surreal for me and feels like a full-circle moment," Joseph said. "I was born and raised here, went through SFA Middle School and Bryan High, and Friday night lights with packed stands were always special.”
A Bryan native, Joseph has had success coaching at Texas high schools, including Denton Guyer, Magnolia West, Temple High School, and Caldwell High School, and was the quarterbacks coach at the University of North Texas in 2021.

Forever. That is about 0.0000071% of your life owned forever by my writing.
Time is valuable and time is limited. As high schoolers, we’ve often been told that we have our lives ahead of us. In many ways, this is true. However, looking at it another way, the average student has already lived 20% of their life.
That’s a fifth of our lives. Gone. No takebacks, no refunds. However, you spent those seconds is etched that way in history forever.
So, we should live each day like it’s the most important day of our lives, right? Make the most of every fleeting second because we’ll only live each once?
Or, we could just… not.
I am incapable of forming an opinion. There, I said it; the haters were right. For most people, forming an opinion is fairly simple: Think about a topic, find what's wrong with it, then form an opinion. For me, on the other hand, it's nearly impossible. Maybe it's the sleep deprivation, or maybe it's the junk I fuel myself with, but I cannot form an opinion.
To start off this opinion piece, I want to say that I’m only writing about my inability to form an opinion because I cannot come up with an opinion to write about for the Norseman that is not controversial or significant enough to write about.
When I’m in the shower, I typically shower myself with thoughts (pun intended). These thoughts could range from rethinking life decisions, innovative designs, reviewing my day, or, most importantly, forming opinions. Right after the shower, I forget them. I don’t know if this is because of the 20 minutes worth of steam infecting my brain, or if it’s because I'm about to fall asleep.
