A belated poem in honor of Mother’s Day. If it speaks to you and you feel like it means we should work together toward a goal or overcoming a challenge, let me know.

Becoming a mother isn’t easy
In fact, for some it’s downright hard
They pray, they toil, they count, and get queasy
With constant questions people bombard
Don’t you want to have a baby?
What do you mean the time’s not right?
Oh, come on, now don’t you, isn’t that a maybe?
They struggle, they cherish, and they hold on tight
Then, the time comes, and the child is at hand
The diapers, the discipline, and potty training aren’t grand
When they learn being a mom isn’t easy either
Being a mom is about this one, that one, or neither
Make a choice my child, the wise one is to share
But, if you do not want to, for you I still will care
The things that were once mom’s own are now too often shared
The time, the snacks, the bathroom with others are often paired
They know this isn’t the easiest job
To move their teenagers through the constant mob
It is one though they wouldn’t trade
Because they call a heart a heart and a spade a spade
The answers are not always black and white
But their children’s future remains in their sight
Will they grow up to be leaders of the land?
Or just to love playing in the sand?
For most mothers it does not matter
Toward their dreams it is great to see them clatter
Then, as if all of the sudden and in some sort of dream
Into their mother’s eyes the twilight it does gleam
From mom to grandmother, they’ve been promoted
A new title to which they will be just as devoted
A chance to spoil the grandkids so rotten
Special memories that will not be forgotten
When the mother reaches the end of the road
The hearts she’s touched they will explode
The joy she leaves for the next generation
Will live on to her children’s elation
