The UMA General Assembly is looking for UMA students (from any UMA location) who are interested in serving as the next Student Trustee.
The Student Trustee is a full voting member of the UMS Board of Trustees and is charged with advocating for, and representing the interests of, all UMS students on matters such as academic programs, faculty tenure, tuition rates, and operating budgets. The Student Trustee serves a 2-year term.
Every two years, the student government from each UMS institution nominates a candidate from their student body. In order to be considered by the UMA General Assembly, students must be a full-time student (enrolled in at least 12 credits), have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, have completed 80% of all UMA courses attempted within the last four years, and be a permanent resident of Maine*.
**This requirement may be eliminated if the proposed policy before the Board of Trustees is adopted at their November meeting. Students who are interested but do NOT meet this requirement are encouraged to apply.
If you are interested in this amazing leadership opportunity, please submit your resume via this form (https://bit.ly/3tI1kzh) before 12:00PM on Friday, November 3, 2023.
Selected candidates would then be invited to meet and interview with the General Assembly at their November meeting (scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 7:00 PM via Zoom)
