September is Attendance Awareness Month—a reminder that every day at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School gives our students another opportunity to grow in faith, knowledge, and virtue.

Missing two days in a month may not seem significant, but over a school year, that adds up to 18 missed days or 10% of the year. Missing 10% or more is considered chronic absenteeism and can affect reading development, academic success, and a child’s ability to fully participate in our faith filled school community.

Together, we can help every student be present, engaged, and ready to grow.

This National Arts in Education Week, we’re celebrating the teachers who bring creativity, expression, and imagination into our students’ school days!

🧵 Mrs. Govignon teaches Textile Arts, introducing students to the creativity and craftsmanship that come with working with fabric and thread. This is her 16th year teaching! She says she loves teaching both math and art because her brain is both analytical and creative!

The Mass is more than something we attend each week. It’s a love story rooted in Scripture and meant to shape how we live.

SFXCS parents are invited to join Mrs. Casey Harris for A Biblical Walk Through the Mass, a five-part series beginning Wednesday, September 30, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Come deepen your understanding of the Liturgy while enjoying dinner and fellowship with our school community. Spaghetti dinner and childcare will be provided.

Our Pre-K4 students are learning that shapes can be more than something they see on a page. They can be something they create! Mrs. Smith’s class recently explored 2- and 3-dimensional shapes through painting, combining creativity with hands-on learning.

For Mrs. Smith, art is more than an activity. It’s a way of teaching. A painter herself, she has her own studio at home and loves finding ways to incorporate art into her lessons. With days filled with “smiles and lots of hugs,” Mrs. Smith is passionate about making a difference every day and helping her students learn from every experience!

This National Arts in Education Week, we’re celebrating the teachers who bring creativity, expression, and imagination into our students’ school days!

🎶 Ms. Walsh has been singing and performing since she was young, in church, theater, and social settings. After earning her degree in music, she returned to her hometown and joined our faculty as our music teacher. She says that she is "so grateful to help a new generation of children learn to love music!"

🎨 Mrs. Yanik teaches Art & Religion, helping students explore their creativity while making connections between art and faith. This is her 4th year at SFXCS! Her favorite part of working here is "The students!" The creativity they bring to the Art Room, the inquisitiveness they bring to Religion!
