We are thankful to the Marshes of Glynn Girl Scout troops #075 and #248 for their annual "Cookies for Cops" project, which recognizes law enforcement and first responders across our community, including the GCSS Police Department.

This thoughtful gesture is a wonderful way to show appreciation for their dedication and service every day. Our SROs work tirelessly to keep our schools safe and are a valued part of our Glynn County Schools family. We appreciate the difference they make every day! ๐Ÿ’™

Our Story

"It is with great honor and pleasure that the officers and staff of the Glynn County Schools Police Department strive to keep the Glynn County Schools as safe and free of unlawful activity as possible. We exist to serve and protect the students, staff and visitors at all Glynn County School System sites and functions by maintaining public safety as well as law and order. The public safety function of the School Resource Officer (SRO) is to provide a professional campus law enforcement presence, and serve to support the mission of the educators and principals of our district. Studies show conclusively that when students feel safe at school, learning is greatly enhanced and test scores improve. With roughly 13,000 students and 1,800 staff in our schools daily, it is a tremendous task to maintain public safety. Our staff is dedicated to that mission. If you need to call upon us, please feel free to do so. We will be happy to assist in any way we can.โ€

~ Rod Ellis - Chief of Police - Glynn County Schools

Mission Statement: The Glynn County School Police mission is to provide an in-house professional law enforcement agency service and presence on our school campuses and school functions. We shall vigilantly patrol on and around school property and events. We exist to deter, detect and investigate unlawful and undesired activity, while also enhancing public safety. Our ultimate goal is to maintain safe, comfortable and orderly environments within our schools for our students to learn, our faculty and staff to teach, and our staff and visitors to feel welcome.

This mission will be achieved by practicing our core values as follows: Professionalism: Our officers will be qualified, meet all standards and be highly trained and equipped to respond appropriately to any challenge. We will network and work hand-in-hand with our outside public safety partners to achieve our mission. Accountability: We will be held to the highest standards of ethics in our actions, both in public and private. Courtesy: We will strive to be courteous, approachable, responsive, proactive and willing to assist the staff and public in accordance with our established policies and procedures. Fairness: We will treat all parties with dignity and respect while we diligently enforce the law and school discipline codes without favoritism or bias.
