Behind every well-run school and supported classroom is a team working diligently to keep our district grounded. This Finance & Accounting Appreciation Week, we want to recognize the dedicated professionals in our central office who manage our budgets, steward community resources, and keep operations running seamlessly across Glynn County Schools.

Please join us in congratulating our Top 5 Finalists for the 2026–2027 Glynn County Teacher of the Year! 🌟

This morning, Director of Human Resources Stephen Brooks visited schools across our district to deliver the exciting news to our finalists and their principals. Whether they were surprised right in their classrooms or reached by phone while off campus, it was the absolute best way to start a Friday.

Alphabetically by last name, our district finalists are:
Jessica Andrews – Risley Middle School
Stacy Davis – Glyndale Elementary School
Dani Morton – FACES
Josh Veal – Glynn Academy
Gena Wynn – Brunswick High School

To ensure a standard of fairness, our selection process relies on an independent panel of expert judges—all retired educators who understand the dedication required in the classroom. Each judge carefully evaluates applications and reference letters through a complete blind review process. Every identifying detail, including candidate names, grade levels, subjects, and school locations, is fully redacted before evaluation. Being selected as a top candidate through this rigorous process speaks volumes about these educators' exceptional impact on our students.

Our overall District Teacher of the Year will be announced on October 20th during a special celebration honoring all of our Teachers and Staff of the Year. We look forward to sharing the big announcement with our entire community following the event!

Happy belated National I.T. Professionals Day to the hardworking tech team at Glynn County Schools. Thank you for knowing how to solve every digital puzzle, answering our help desk tickets with patience, and keeping our schools connected—even when the Wi-Fi drops for 30 seconds and we panic. We couldn't do what we do without you!

September is Attendance Awareness Month across the nation, and it is a crucial time to focus on how every school day shapes our students' futures.

When a child misses just two days of school a month, it can feel like minor, isolated events. However, over the course of an academic year, those single days quickly accumulate into 18 total days of missed instruction—which equals 10% of the entire school year.

Missing 10% or more of the school year is defined as chronic absenteeism. This lost time directly impacts foundational reading levels in early grades, making it harder for students to keep pace as curriculum demands grow.

Building strong attendance habits starts early, and staying informed is the best way to keep your student on track. Log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal today to check your child's attendance record, and let's work together to make every school day count! 📚

Students in Ms. Amy Blackerby’s Georgia Studies classes at Jane Macon Middle School showcased their creativity and state pride by entering the annual Peanut Festival Postcard Contest! 🎨

Hosted by the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park in Plains, Georgia, this year’s contest invited K-12 students across the state to design an original postcard based on the theme "Shell-ebrating 250 Years of America - One Peanut at a Time!" while honoring the legacy of former President Jimmy Carter. We are so proud of our students for applying their history lessons through art and sending their work to represent Glynn County!
