Tomorrow, April 12, 2024 from 1:30 to 3:00, I will be doing a Zoom talk: Seeking Rogers' Roots: The Maine-Canada-Ireland Connection for the Rodgers Library in Hudson New Hampshire. It's a fascinating case study illustrating a variety of methods in tracing a person's maritime roots. I'm hoping some of you might like to join me. It's free, informative and fun.

PRONI. The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland has wonderful records, many now digitized. Here are some tithe applotment records relating to the Poor Law Union of Clogher, ED of Killyfaddy in County Tyrone. I’m looking for records of McCoy’s who stayed in Ireland after my family emigrated in 1802.

Hi Everyone. I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been going through a transition and winding down my business. I have stepped down as President of the Maine Genealogical Society which is now being run by the very capable Peter Smith.
Also my focus will be on doing research on my own family, finally. Thanks to my many clients who have shared their families with me.
I will still do Genealogy coaching and presentations. I enjoyed seeing many of you at NERGC in Manchester NH in April.

Getting ready to give my talk on Deeds in Genealogy to the MGS Midcoast Chapter next Wed. I’ll be talking about how to use deeds to help in your Genealogy research.
I’ll be discussing US land records but I got to learn about Irish records last summer.
The picture below shows a researcher with our NEHGS trip looking at a very old Irish deed at PRONI —Public Record Office of Northern Ireland June 2018.

If you had relatives from Durham in Androscoggin County Maine, you’ll be excited to check out MGS’s recent publication of Durham Vital Records (MGS special publication 81.) Durham used to be in Cumberland County. Many people lived in Durham as a stop in their migration throughout Maine.
I transcribed these records over 2 1/2 years. It was a labor of love but well worth it. I have a BLOG about doing the Durham records. Check out www.Find-Your-Roots.com on the Internet.
MGS has 82 publications since we began dating in 1975. All done by volunteers! Check out www.maineroots.org.

I’ll be doing a talk on Using Town Records in Genealogy and I’ll also be hosting the event as MGS President. Check out www.maineroots.org for more information. It should be a great event. Hope to see you there!
