There’s a whole different kind of organizing that happens when two homes become one. 😂

This family had recently combined households, which meant a closet that once belonged to one person suddenly needed to work for two.

And Mama needed some room. 😂

So my team did what we do.

Everything came out.

We sorted through it, figured out what actually needed to live in this space, reconfigured how the closet was being used, created zones for both of them, and put it all back together in a way that actually makes sense.

And BAM. ✨

Same closet.
Same amount of square footage.
Completely different function.

That’s the part of professional organizing people don’t always see. Sometimes you don’t need a bigger closet or a bigger house.

You need to rethink the space you already have.

I’m incredibly proud of my team on this one. They took a closet that was trying to figure out its new job and made it work for the family actually living there now.

REALTOR BESTIES… I have a question. 😂

What do you do with the client who is 100% ready to sell their house…

…but approximately 0% ready to deal with everything IN the house?

You know the one.

“We need to downsize, but I don’t know where to start.”

“I can’t list it yet. I have too much stuff.”

“My parents are moving and I’m completely overwhelmed.”

“We’ve lived here 32 years.”

THIS is where I think a lot of people still don’t understand what we actually do.

OCD Home Solutions isn’t just an organizing company.

And we aren’t just a moving company.

We can walk into that house BEFORE the sign ever hits the yard and handle the part standing between you and the listing.

Costco. Costco. Costco. You tricky little friend. 😂

Listen, I get it.

You walk in for toilet paper and somehow leave feeling like you’ve personally beaten the system because you got 97 bags of chips for $14.99.

WHAT A DEAL. 🙌🏻

Except now you have to live with 97 bags of chips.

And suddenly you’re climbing over chips to make coffee, there’s a case of something sitting on the kitchen floor, the counters have become overflow storage and you’re playing Tetris every time you bring groceries home.

And this is something I see in homes ALL. THE. TIME.

We buy because the price makes sense.

But we forget to ask:

Does the QUANTITY make sense for my home?

Because those are two completely different questions.

I love a good deal just as much as the next person. But if your house doesn’t have the space to comfortably store the backstock, that bargain isn’t making your life easier.

It’s creating another problem you now have to manage.

And here’s the other thing…

We live in a world where if you run out of chips, paper towels, peanut butter or English muffins, you can pretty much have another one at your front door before you’ve had enough time to truly miss it. 😂

We don’t necessarily need six months of everything sitting inside our houses anymore.

Buy for the home you actually have.

Not the pantry you wish you had.

Not because Costco put a giant yellow sign over it.

And definitely not because “BUT LOOK HOW MUCH I’M SAVING!” 😂

Sometimes the better deal is buying less, having somewhere to put it, and being able to walk through your damn kitchen.

We’re organizing the basement of a woman I have a feeling a whole lot of you already know, love and adore.

Well, this was a pretty damn cool thing to wake up to. ❤️

I wrote this post back in March of 2025.

Yesterday, someone shared it again and said it was the post that motivated him to start going through the “treasures” he’s accumulated over the years so his kids won’t have to someday.

And THIS.

This is why I keep writing.

Sure, I own an organizing and moving company. But sometimes I forget that something I wrote on a random day might actually stick with somebody long after I’ve forgotten I even posted it.

Almost a year and a half later, this one came back around.

Pretty freaking cool way to start the morning. ❤️

And Bob—keep purging. 😂 Your kids are going to thank you someday.
