PTA REFLECTIONS ART COMPETITION

This year’s theme is “What My Culture Means to Me.”

Students are invited to explore their culture, experiences, and creativity through the arts. Entries may be submitted in the following categories:

- Visual Arts
- Dance Choreography
- Photography
- Film Production
- Literature
- Music Composition

Entry Deadline: October 2nd

We encourage all students to participate and share what their culture means to them through their own unique creative expression.

We’re truly grateful to be able to support events that create great memories for our students and their families. 🩵

The PTA was happy to provide $500 in new board games this year, along with a collection of games purchased last year, to help make Games with Grands possible! 🎲🧩

This is exactly what your PTA membership dues and fundraising dollars help make happen — putting resources directly into our school and creating meaningful experiences for our Sandpipers and their families.

We’re so proud to be able to give back to our school in ways that bring our students, families, and community together! 💚

WE HAVE AN ICE CREAM PARTY WINNER!

After an incredible Membership Drive, we’re excited to announce our top three classes!

1st Place — Mrs. Scarbrough’s Class
They’re the big winners of an ICE CREAM PARTY! Plus, Mrs. Scarbrough gets a teacher swag bag and the class receives $50 toward their classroom Amazon Wishlist.

2nd Place — Mrs. Beck’s Class

Thank you to everyone who joined the PTA and helped us make this our biggest Membership Drive yet! We’ve officially broken our previous membership record, and we’d love to keep that momentum going.

The contest may be over, but it’s never too late to join the PTA and make a meaningful difference at SME.

🎨What does culture mean to you?

Think about the things you just get.
The music that speaks to you. 🎶
The people who understand your references.
The places where you feel like you belong.
The traditions you’ve made your own.
The communities you’ve found along the way.
The things you love that somehow became part of who you are.

Maybe it’s connected to your family or heritage. Maybe it’s something you discovered on your own. Maybe it’s a school community, a sport, a creative space, a fandom, a neighborhood, or a corner of the internet that feels like home.

Now ask yourself:
Where did those things come from?
How did they shape you?
What do they mean to you?

That might be your culture.

This year’s PTA Reflections theme is “What My Culture Means to Me,” and there’s no one way to interpret it. Culture can be inherited, experienced, shared, created, or discovered.

So take a look at your own world and ask:

✨ What has shaped me?
🎨 What part of that story could I turn into art?

Why does the Sandbar always hit different? 🌴🤔

Because sometimes you just need a surprise cupcake… and an unsolicited PTA serenade. 🧁🎤

Yesterday’s first Sandbar of the year was serving up YOU TAKE THE CAKE — no really, TAKE ONE! 🎂

Huge thanks to SugarBakers for the treats and to our staff for bringing the laughs. We’re already looking forward to the next Sandbar!
