Risley Middle School

Softball will have voluntary workouts a few days before school starts and tryouts will be the first two days of school. Again these workouts are not mandatory, it's an opportunity for the girls to knock some of the rust off and get ready for tryouts. Workouts and tryouts will take place at Risley Middle softball field. Bring glove cleats and plenty of water.

Workout Dates:

July 27th through July 29th from 8-11 (mornings)
August 3rd through August 5th from 3-5 (afternoons)

Tryout Dates:

August 6th and August 7th from 3:30 to 5:30 (after school)

I know it’s wild that we are already talking about next school year when this one is not finished yet, but fall athletics are already in the works. Please remember that all students who try out must have an up to date physical (they are good for a year and a day), all athletic paperwork completed, and be academically eligible. The Spring Semester average is what determines academic eligibility and students must pass all classes except one. Here is some information regarding sports that will begin in August with their coach’s contact information should you have questions.
• Cheerleading – Tryouts have taken place and the team has been picked. Coach Shaunacee Radford – [email protected]
• Cross Country – Tryouts will be August 10th through the 12th from 3:45 to 5:00. Coach Gabbi Benton at [email protected] and Coach Keane at [email protected]
• Football – Coach Couch has resigned to take the defensive coordinator position at Charlton County High School. Our next coach has been chosen, and we hope to have him in by next week. Thank you Ms. Eaddy for leading our 7th grade team to the 4H Center on Jekyll today! The students said they had a great time!

It takes a lot of great people to make our school run as smooth and efficiently as it does. Ms. Ae and our cafeteria workers are definitely some of those unspoken heroes! Congratulations to the cafeteria team on scoring a perfect 100 on their health inspection today!
