These STEAM kiddos are so creative and did an amazing job with today’s building challenge. They were given crafts sticks, play dough, and leaf stickers and had to figure out how to build three dimensional autumn trees with no instructions. Smart kids🤔👏!

Today in STEAM we talked about simple machines and the lever. We did several demonstrations on how levers are helpful and learned about the fulcrum and force. Students had fun experimenting with their own mini levers. Great job everyone!

Science, technology, engineering, art and math are a part of daily life.

The skills children learn when engaging with STEAM concepts are transferable and useful across many aspects of their lives.

Children need to explore and to discover. This is how you innovate; you fail your way to your answer. “Scientists fail all the time; we just brand it differently. We call it ‘data’, said Ainissa Ramirez.

STEAM encourages curiosity and creative thinking. At St. Marks, we encourage children to explore these subjects in a fun and safe environment through books, discussions, experiments, art projects, games and more.

* Science encourages investigation and answering questions, often involving experimentation.
* Technology refers to using simple tools like crayons and rulers, as well as more complex ones like microscopes and computers.
* Engineering refers to recognizing problems and testing solutions.
* Arts encourage creativity and allow children to illustrate concepts they are learning.
* Mathematics deals with numbers, but also patterns, shapes, organizational skills and much more.
