When we partner with a business or industry, we first consider if we share similar goals with our partners. Our Goal is to improve a students life and that of their families through education, skills training and certifications that lead to high demand, high wage skilled employment. Texas Southmost College is our partner for that reason. They too want to improve the quality of life through education and training. Today we attended the TSC advisory board for diesel mechanics. Diesel mechanics is offered through TSC at ITEC and will possibly be a CTE program when they build and complete the new CTE Certification Center. Plans are underway to offer our students dual enrollment classes for diesel mechanics and thus create a seamless pipeline from BISD to TSC. Thank you Texas Southmost College for being our partner and improving students lives in Cameron county!

Ready or not, get ready for the 2026-2027 school year! It was all hands on deck as the BISD early college high schools hosted meet the teacher night this week. Pace principal, Marisol Treviño and her staff did an amazing job of hosting hundreds of parents and students as they walked the halls, collected schedules and eagerly met the teachers. The excitement for the new school year was evident throughout the event. Wishing all our families a great year! @

JROTC is now part of the Career and Technical Education Department. Secondary students across Texas may now choose JROTC as a career pathway. Excellent leadership skills come from these programs. Another option for students to succeed at Brownsville ISD!

Congratulations to our students from Lopez Early College High School! Through CTE and their student organization, Technology Students Association (TSA) they competed at the highest levels and made Brownsville ISD very proud!

Tiana Resendiz (second from left), a BISD CTE alumna, distinguished herself at UT-Austin by achieving a notable fourth place and semifinal entry at the Vex Robotics AI Worlds competition. This prestigious event, focused on autonomous robots, required universities to develop innovative solutions, with participants scoring balls into goals under the Push Back theme. Her role in Computer Vision involved model collection, training, and conversion from Pytorch to TensorRT for deployment on Nvidia Jetson Orin. The success of BISD CTE students extends beyond high school.

Summer is an ideal time for Brownsville ISD CTE students to unlock their potential through exceptional summer camps at Texas Southmost College. These innovative programs empower middle and high school students to explore diverse career paths, from medical careers and STEM to manufacturing, automotive repair, construction, law enforcement, and maritime careers, all while staying local and cost-efficient. Thanks to the partnership with Texas Southmost College, students can seize these opportunities. The collaboration between BISD and TSC continues to pave the way for student success.
