Great news for our !
Harmony Public Schools will add another building block to its innovative teaching techniques after receiving a five year, $26 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, the department announced Harmony is one of 13 recipients nationwide of the federal Teaching Incentive Fund (TIF) competition. The TIF competition is a performance-based reward system for principals and teachers in high-risk schools.

“This is another statement to the high quality of our educators, and will add to the many educational tools they use to prepare our students to succeed in college and in life,” said Dr. Soner Tarim, CEO of Harmony Public Schools.

Harmony will use the grant monies to continue its mission of supporting our engaged and dedicated teachers as they provide rigorous curriculum focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Harmony looks to expand its professional development and financial incentives for high-performing educators to increase and maintain student academic performance.

“Our teachers consistently go above and beyond every day to ensure our students receive the best possible education. I am thrilled we will be able to expand the professional and financial support we provide to our educators, which they so obviously deserve,” said Zekeriya Yuksel, Superintendent of Schools.

STEMSOS Work-Energy Experiment w/ force&motion sensors 01/21/2016

Harmony Science Academy Brownsville; title 1, tuition free, charter and only designated T-STEM academy in Brownsville AP& Physics class students planned and conducted another great experiment to investigate "The Work - Energy Theorem". Students used motion sensors to calculate final kinetic energy and force sensor to find applied force. AP students also discussed the dynamics laws to figure out why applied force is not equal to he hanged mass's weight! Eureka! All teams proved that the theorem is correct! HSA Brownsville, where students gain lifelong learnings through hands on activities. Teamwork, collaboration, hands on!, sensor based data collection... STEMSOS model works!

STEMSOS Model Conservation of Energy Experiment(Popper dropper) 01/20/2016

Harmony Science Academy Brownsville; title 1, tuition free, charter and only designated T-STEM academy in Brownsville AP& Physics class students planned and conducted another great experiment to investigate "the law of conservation of energy". Students used a popper dropper, stored elastic potential energy and calculated the amount by releasing from different heights! Their goal was also to calculate the threshold energy of the popper dropper. HSABrownsville, where students gain lifelong learnings through hands on activities. STEMSOS model works!

HSA-Bro Physics Cls:Series&Parallel Circuits and Power Experiment 04/15/2015

Harmony Science Academy Brownsville; title 1, tuition free, charter and only designated T-STEM academy in Brownsville Physics class students investigated series and parallel connections. Step 1; measuring the voltage of batteries in series and parallel connection. Step 2; connect 2 light bulbs in series and then parallel under same voltage to compare brightness. Step 3; connect one light bulb to 2 batteries in series and in parallel. Eureka! all figured out parallel and series connections and how brightness depends on applied voltage and current.
