The Brownsville Junior Service League (BJSL) was founded in May of 1939 by a group of thirty-six women led by Gladys Sams Porter. Women's volunteer organization

The Well Baby Clinic was the first project supported by the league. It provided pediatric care of infants from birth to one y Today, the BJSL membership is composed of women from diverse backgrounds and careers. They serve five clinics and volunteer for several special projects throughout the year. Members offer entertainment activities to residents at Mother of Perpetual Help Nursing Home in Brow
