The Translation and Interpreting Programs (TIP) coordinate all the undergraduate and graduate translation and interpreting course offerings at UTRGV.

With a group of expert professors in the field from several locations in the world, we offer an online graduate program in Spanish Translation and Interpreting. We also offer an undergraduate minor and a BA Major in Spanish Translation and Interpreting, the first and largest in the State of Texas and one of the most comprehensive in the nation.

The 2026 Annual TAJIT Conference will be held this weekend, August 7-9, 2026, in Arlington, Texas. 🤠

This is a great opportunity for those who are currently enrolled in one of our T&I programs to network with fellow students and T&I professionals. If you attend, make sure to bring your printed or digital QR codes and business cards with you. 😉

And for those who are Licensed Court Interpreters for the State of Texas, the conference offers a total of 10.5 LCI credits: 6.5 credits on Saturday and 4.0 on Sunday.

Additionally, an optional pre-conference opportunity will be held on Friday, August 7, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the Eldon B. Mahon U.S. Courthouse in Fort Worth, TX. This is a free session; however, RSVP is required.

This week, the Harris County Department of Education will host its Second Annual Professional Translators & Interpreters Conference on Thursday, July 30, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., and Friday, July 31, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the HCDE Conference Center (5th Floor), located at 6300 Irvington Blvd., Houston, Texas.

This exciting two-day event celebrates the vital role of language professionals and offers an outstanding opportunity to connect with fellow translators and interpreters, learn from industry experts, and explore innovative approaches to advancing language access.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California is seeking to fill a vacancy for an English/Spanish Translator position.

GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, applicants must meet at least ONE of the following conditions: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Education: Master's or equivalent degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in Translation, Interpretation, Linguistics, Spanish Language, or a closely related field, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Translator.
